  • hey thanks for replying. when you say the bobbin is thinner, do you mean that the coil isnt wrapped as wide as an original jm? Ive heard that japanese and mex JM pickups are wound like a strat pickup and just have a wide cap ontop to keep the JM cosmetics, is that what you mean when you say the bobbin is thinner? Thanks

  • Exactly, the SJM2 is wider than the stock Japanese pup but finer than a classic JM one.

  • Hey dude, so i notice you have alot of jazzmasters. May i ask, does the sjm-2 in the neck still have the same classic jazzmaster sound to it as say an american jm pickup or a lollar, just with a little more juice, or is it really an entirely different sounding pickup alltogether?

  • Hi!

The SJM2 bobin is thinner than a JM pup so the dynamics isn't exactly the same.

It's between a Strat and JM pup with a meatier sound.

  • Nice playing - I have a 2008 JM 62 reissue with Novak pups- how do you find playing without the buzz-stop on the bridge? Do you have any issue with the strings popping off of the sadles? Just curious .... I love the long scale neck on the JM - a very unique guitar.

    Hi!

There's several aftermarket bridge for Jazzmaster : A mustang or mustang modified by warmoth.

But Imo the best solution is the mastery bridge, it's a great improvement for JM or Jaguar.

  • I don't understand where all these Gibson fanboys come from. Gibson isn't the best guitar company out there. Expensive doesn't always mean the best.

  • Also it's quite difficult to use the upper frets on a Les Paul.

There are pictures of jimmi with an upside down Jazzmaster. He used to play them before he turned famous but up until -67 he was sometimes seen with them. Ofc the strat was his main guitar and he used Gibsons sometimes but the man had a lot of guitars...

  • @Jazzmaster11 Ok thx for the info & i didnt said youre bad playing actually i think youre pretty good at it

sorry for my crappy mexican english

  • @nos4blood70

    So true.

I loved my Les Paul until I bought my strat.

I found the LP sitting in the corner so much that I sold it and bought a nice Jazz Bass and a Acoustic bass amp to go with it.
