Actually, before Jesus was crucified Pilate asked Him (gonna paraphrase all of this) "Don't You know I have the power to set You free?" and Jesus said "You have no power over me except what the Father has given you, so the one who handed Me over to you has the greater sin." Also, in one of the epistles of John, John says "Not all sins lead to death, but there is a sin that leads to death, and I'm not saying you should even pray for those who commit it." I can get the specific verses if you want.
