@risteardsean - oh and btw, I love the way you say " Arriving in Iraq and Afghanistan.. with The British army at your side is never going to endear America to the native populations". So now it's BRITAINS fault lol. And who invaded those 2 countries in the first place? It was your call. You might find THATS what causes the natives not to feel endeared to you. And the 350 or so Brit families who have lost men in Afghanistan will no doubt note America's appreciation of their sacrifice.
@risteardsean - Get your facts straight - Afghanistan was never a British colony and Iraq was administered by Britain after WW1 because Britian fought and defeated the Ottoman Empire, then an ally of Germany, and drove the Turks out of much of the Middle East. But again,we have Americans getting on their high horse about British Imperialism when the U.S.A. itself is territory that has been taken by force of arms from the original native population - a pretty good definition of an empire.
@risteardsean - I don't think Brits need any lectures on being nasty to the natives from Americans considering that the U.S. committed genocide against native Americans across what became the U.S.A. in the 19th century. At least Britain gave its conquered territories independence unless the majority (such as in Northern Ireland, Gibraltar etc) wanted to stay under British rule. You just stole your part of North America off the natives and don't seem too keen on giving it back.
@Colinski03 You do: membership of one of the orders of chivalry can be granted to foreigners, but only subjects of the Queen can call themselves 'Sir...'. Edward Kennedy would now be 'Edward Kennedy, KBE', not 'Sir Edward Kennedy'.
@crackyhoss: My point is in a variety of reasons, which are just little snippets of things that i could go into great deal about, but cant elaborate further because they are too long.. Your second point about me hating white people is bizarre.. Can you explain that?
@risteardsean Re-read your posts, and then come back and tell me your "point" isn't all over the place... you just seem to hate white people, is what it comes down to.
@crackyhoss: ive tried to get my point across, but you just dont understand, im not going to try anymore, anybody else reading this who isnt a raving anglophile will now what im talking about
@risteardsean Dude you're getting all worked up over Britain's colonial past... I'm not even arguing that... you started off saying that America is licking Britain's boots, which I argued against. Now you're all over the board. Every country has a dark, shitty, criminal past. Get over it. Or just keep raging, your choice. My choice is to leave this discussion.
@crackyhoss: Or Northern Ireland, shamefacedly taken Britains side even though they were breaking human rights, and check that up if you dont believe me
