In this film "Funny Bones" artist John Kascht gives us a behind the scenes look at the creation of his portrait of Conan O' Brien, explaining his artistic process and approach to caricature.
Kascht's portraits of Alan Greenspan and Warren Buffet can be seen in our exhibition "Twentieth Century Americans."
Presented by the National Portrait Gallery's "Gallery 360" series. For more on the video, see this article in the NPG's blog: http://face2face.si.edu/my_weblog/201...

Wow, first time watching your video. Amazing how well you dive into not only their features, but almost the meaning of every detail of the portrait. Amazing work.

I had the pleasure of meeting John last month. I was inducted into National Art Honor Society where he was the guest speaker. After that, I emailed him and he responded two days ago. He invited me and my friend to his studio to see our artwork and to have dinner!
He's such an awesome guy. I've been so giddy since he replied! I can't wait!!

I commend you on how in depth your thought process is in your work and that's most likely brought you where you are today BUUUUT as far as having it explained to others, your process tends to become overkill. I clicked to see you draw Conan but got overwhelmed with your process after nearly 10 minutes that I had to move on.
