Knik Glacier is in the Matanuska Valley. It is the glacier that feeds Knik River. It is nearby Palmer. We flew above it. We started from Big Lake, and it is a short fly, but spectacular. The autumn colors are breath taking, and behind the horizon there are the snowy mountains. The glacier is enormous and only one of the many here in Southern Alaska. This glacier hides in the Palmer-Juneau range, and one can only fly to see closer. The snowy peaks can be well seen from the highway. Close by the glacier the land is good for farming, and my favorite farm, where I can go and pick my own vegetables, the Pyrah Pioneer Peek farm, or us we locally call it, You pick farm is located. Our flight was a round trip, lasted about an hour. During this short flight I could see the magic nature, and the benefit and the trouble of civilization
