In October 2011 I visited 10 different "Occupy Wall Street" encampments to gain a better understanding of the movement. I edited a short film that documents my experiences in Chicago, D.C., New York City, Providence, Boston, Montreal, Albany, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. My film shows the Occupy Movement in its first phase, which I'm calling "The Awakening".

Please take a moment to view this and share it with others. I'm hoping to generate interest in the project and continue covering the movement into its next phase.

If you're interested, visit www.occupytravels.com for more media in the coming weeks.

Thank you!

  • really nice to see this multi city sequence and also my friend nigel in pittsburgh too!

  • @blackraven1515 Nina! Thank you for sharing your story.

  • Oh yes, the occupy movement is by definition, anti-capitalist. Every issue we address, from wealth disparity, never ending wars for resources, massive environmental degradation, corporate person hood, foreclosures, unemployment, massive student loan debt, privatization, racism, sexism, and this generation's stolen future make it so. Wall St, the big banks, and corporate dominance is the system of the 1% [capitalism] run amok. It puts profits before the needs of humanity (the 99%). .

  • EXCELLENT. I wish I didn't have to be an armchair activist but I don't live near any Occupy movements although I fully support it and am as active as I can be via Social Media. Keep up the great work. Keep the movement strong. We must NEVER give up or give in against our oppressors. We must always stand up for our rights as citizens and never bow to tyrants.

  • Thanks for doing this. Please keep recording history as this develops and the movement becomes stronger, eventually to create change. We so support this movement.

  • Nice to see some of the Canadian gatherings and hearing that while their banking structure may differe, they have many of the same issues we are also worried about.

  • Can someone please identify the song they are playing at around 3:30?? It sounds familiar and its killing me trying to remember?

  • love the shot of or montreal guy fawkes

    keep them coming

  • Glad to say that I was apart of this moment. Oh sorry, that I am STILL apart of this moment and we aren't going nowhere. God is on the side of the people. Look how mild this winter has been. We will hit the streets even harder once the spring comes back around.

    "We are legion.

    We do not forget.

    We do not forgive.

    Expect Us!!!!!!"

  • That girl in the video had it right. Occupy is not about complaining. It's about gathering together and think how we can change things since it wont change itself. Doing nothing rewards nothing or worst in return.
