This is the first ever song to reach number 1 in the UK

In an interview I found here on You Tube Al Martino tells a great story about himself and fellow Philadelphian, Mario Lanza. Al had just started making his mark with this hit when Mario Lanza's record company urged Mario to cover "Here In My Heart." Al tells how he called Mario and explained that should Mario cover the song, Al's version would be overshadowed by Mario and his cover. Mario understood and he told his record company that he would not do a cover. Isn't that a great story?

I was born in the wrong age. I wish I didn't have to watch my beautiful land go so terribly wrong.
Straight from the shoulder and right from the heart, a beautiful performance from Mr. Martino, we need this kind of singing today in this sad old world more than ever.
