I hate how our schools only teach us the battles that the union won, it pisses me off, didn't the Confederacy win most of the battles? and I'm a Texan as well

@ArizonaDesertPiper The writer of the song is unknown. Legend has it that the song was written for a woman named Emily D. West — a mulatto, and hence, the song's reference to her being "yellow". The legend also credits her supposed seduction with lowering the guard of the Mexican army and facilitating the Texan victory in the Battle of San Jacinto waged in 1836. Santa Anna's opponent was General Sam Houston, who won the battle literally in minutes, and with almost no casualties.
