BOOMER and MELINDA Vacation Series takes them and their boat to Pitt Lake in Pitt Meadows BC Canada. Boating and camping for a hot long weekend was the plan. All was great...until the boat ride back. Pitt Lake is known for fast storms and winds. We got out just in time!

A nature lover's haven Pitt Lake has over 50 km. (31 mi.) of rugged shoreline to explore. The southern end of the lake, north of Siwash Island is part of the Widgeon Valley Natural Wildlife Reserve, a nesting area for marsh birds. However if you are going to explore the main lake, a good sized boat is required because of sudden winds and its immense size. LOL.
Pitt Lake is the largest fresh water tidal lake in North America.

  • My family has several cabins on Pitt Lake, I have been going up there since I was 2 mths old... nice video, but the lake isn't 25 km long, it's 7 km long....

  • Thanks for watching. For someone with several cabins on the lake I'm surprised that you don't know the size of it. It is indeed roughly 25 km long. Do a google search if you don't believe me. Perhaps you were thinking of Allouette Lake? Maybe you have a really fast boat? LOL

  • Love this Boomer...made me laugh.

I miss Pitt Lake. My family made a ritual of walks there when I was a teen, and now that I am back in Montreal I miss it so much!

  • Thanks man. Check out some of my other videos of the area. Montreal eh? Brrrrrrrrrrr!
