The "Artificial Filter Media" is that good at cleaning the pond water. over a 2 weeks period the media gets more and more blocked even after a good long backwash. The pressure gauge goes up to 10 therefore requiring a backwash and then by the end of the 2 week period the clean pressure, instead of reaing around 2- 4, it only goes down to 8 or 9 therefore indicating that the media is still blocked.
No mater how much you backwash this will happen and the only way of cleaning the filter and media properly is to take of the top mount multi-port and give the media a good stir and this will loosen all the debris which will then easily be backwashed and then the pressure gauge will fall back to its clean pressure reading.
For obvious reasons this is not really acceptable and so we came up with the idea, adaptation and utilising a 70 (min) - 120 (max) litre air pump and valve to enable the churning of the filter media to do the job.
This video illustrates the great results!
