In the week leading up to the vote for Hugo Chavez's constitutional amendment to abolish term limits, the 19-year-old student movement leader Diego Scharifker (UCV) sits down with the editors of Venezuela Report by Robert Amsterdam in Caracas to talk about the motivations, goals, and challenges of the student opposition movement in Venezuela.

  • This kid won the student council presidency at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He's a bright leader. He's been attacked on state TV through the tapping of private phone calls and all. He's a true democrat and the Chavez dictatorship is trying to quiet all these kids down.
