What is one error that you've made? What did you learn from it? What can others learn from it?

A patient suffers horrible burns. An operation takes twice as long as it should. A child dies from internal bleeding. All because a doctor, a nurse, or another care provider made a mistake. In this video, prominent clinicians describe the errors that still haunt them today — and point out ways those errors could have been prevented.

  • paediatric surgeon: Practice what you learn in medicine, if all the literature was indicating not to operate then thats what you do, its hardly your fault. You don't practice medicine AGAINST what you know, if you do then its as absurd as prescribing tylenol for diabetes.

Nurse: The patient was clearly a moron - he was upset that you saved him from a potentially lethal arrhythmia - with burns minor plastic surgery probably would have taken care of. pft some pt's are so stupid!
