There are many ways to finger and pick these types of arpeggios. I have chosen a sweep picking pattern to play them to more closely achieve that Randy Rhaods sound.

Randy Rhoads used this pattern a few times in his solos. Most notably in his unaccompanied guitar solo during "Suicide Solution" on the live tribute album. By the way, if you don't have that album I highly suggest picking it up. I think it is Randy Rhoads at his absolute best!

The pattern is rather simple and shouldn't take long to grasp. Then you just repeat it across different string sets. There are a few big stretches as well, but as long as you position your thumb on the back of the neck in the proper position you shouldn't have much of a problem doing the stretches no matter how long your fingers are.

Don't forget to download the free TAB PDF for this lesson so you can more easily follow the video lesson. Get it from the link here: http://www.guitarlessons365.com/randy-rhoads-style-diminished-arpeggios-guita...

  • great vid but this is more of yngwie's department of playing licks the lessons great and all but , randy has a different go at the instrument

  • @6paidaa Hey thanks for watching. This lick is actually taken almost directly off of Randy's unaccompanied guitar solo on the live tribute album. Years before anyone in the US heard of Yngwie. Of course after that Yngwie took it to a whole new level, but I still think this classically influenced stuff was very much a part of Randy's playing. :)
