@10YNWA10 I don't doubt what you say, but before the foreign invasion we only had British and Irish players and there was no diving by players.(I'm going back 20 years here) before the Sky generation when all was good about the beautiful game, when there was 3 up 3 down, when the champions of the league challenged the champions of other European leagues, when you could stand on terraces cheering on your team with a deafening noise that intimidated the oppositon unlike today's game.

i blame the governing bodies for this. if they actually wanted to get rid of diving, it would be very easy. make it a red card (anywhere, not just in the box), and look at tapes of games and suspend players who dive (anywhere, not just in the box). they don't want to, however, because it makes the game exciting, causes more free kicks and penalties, and creates talking points. for this reason, diving in football is very similar to steroids in baseball IMO
