@hunghuge12 What are you talking about,the parts you mention hav nothing really to do with build quality or durability.Face facts there are still more Mk2 gtis on the road today to the ford equivelent escrot XR3i/Rs turbos that were made from tin foil and had the weakest engines in them,Fords of the 80s were rubbish with the exeption of the sierra cosworth and the capri.I personally have a Mk2 16v with 178k on the clock and still rolling strong and have owned various XR2/XR3i and guess what..

@bigerch85 Are you on crack? VW's might not rust so bad but you need to rethink better built. How about starting sith gearboxes, water pumps, piston rings, cams and electronics?
