Matusomoto always did a great job setting the mood for his stories. I absolutely loved how he used those trademark faded dark blue colors combined with those nightmarish dream-like scenarios, to exploit our greatest childhood fears. There was always this surreal David Lynch-like quality to his episodes. Not to mention Isao Sasaki's singing made the show perfect.
