Cosmetic multinationals like L'Oreal will spend obscene amounts of money exploiting people's insecurities for profit. No matter how ugly the that insecurity is. Maybe it's some kind of a colonial hangup where people are their ashamed of their skin. There's a reason why these whitening products are sold mainly in Asia and Africa. Modern remains of colonization include internalized racism and that's sad and sick
