This video demonstrates how to calculate harmonic minor scales.
It is advisable that viewers watch part 1 initially as this video expands on the concepts discussed in that video.

  • Musically...how does raising the 7th note make the scale harmonic?

  • @janken919 Tricky one to explain in this small space but - in a nutshell: harmonic minor is used for the harmony of music whereas the melodic scale is, often but not always, used for the melody. Loads of people will disagree with this so the health warning here is that this is a very simplified overview. Perhaps a topic for a future video...? Hope the minor scale videos have been useful for you. Best wishes.

  • *Grade 5 theroy exam

  • Can i pass a grade 5 exam using all of these videos?

  • thank you. you explain things so clearly. i never realised how easy the circle of fifths is

  • hd! yay =D

  • @janken919 to create a leading tone that resolves to the tonic.Since the leading tone has a tendency to rise a step, and though the raised 7th degree causes an augmented second between the 6th and 7th notes, so the leading note should be approached from the 5th, creating a major 3rd or the 2nd creating a major 6th, ascending. cheers :D
