Students from Georgetown STAND-chapter teamed up with U.S. Campaign for Burma to celebrate Thingyan Burmese Water Festival, at Georgetown University to help raise awareness about the political situation in Burma.
Students splashed water on each other, informed their fellow classmates about the freedom struggle in Burma and inspired them to get involved with the democracy movement. Many students signed a petition calling for a UN-led Commission of Inquiry to investigate war crimes and crimes against humanity in Burma.
Students have always been at the forefront of Burma's democracy movement. The students from Georgetown University have proven once again the power of student activism and the impact it is capable of.
