Where is a good place to start the combo to get the Ribbon; cause I started it outside of the crystal area, got the 5-hit Combo (Only combo) and by the time I got across the field the stupid Charybterix targeted me, and then Kamikazed me, and then when I opened up the chest all I got was 900 Gil.. Can I kill any of these buttwipes, or does that null & void the chance of getting the ribbon, even if I get the 5-Hit Combo?

when you get the 5 hit combo ,enemy can not hit you ,and you must open the chest straightly!!

I really hated ff12's game mechanics, and particularly these extremely annoying item hunts.

The traditional, commonsense item system of ff6, 7 or 10 was the way to go. I don't mind probability spawns, necessarily, but anything less than 1% spawning is sadistic and reflects poorly on the developer

dude, just buy a cameo belt or if you have one, and a shield. equip both of them on without any weapon and then you'll be fine.

since you probably got the brawler licenses, your doing more damage barefisted but the shield negates that, and the cameo belt negates the blocking, so i help that helps, i know it works man.

So from what I can see, you attack yourself (barehanded) until the 5-hit combo happens, then stop straight after because the RNG will have guaranteed a rare treasure in the chest/coffer at that point?

Wow...it worked. For those players who have more strength than the Basch in the video, I used a demon shield and just used self/attack gambit and it still worked.

Nihopaloa + Phoenix Down kills do not reset the RNG

Cerobi Steppe/Crossfield, setting RNG then using Diamond Armlet:

At zone exit to Cerobi Steppe/Journey's Rest (the zone with the blue save stone), a Megalixir by a rock.

East along the South zone wall is the Dark Shot

North of the rock is a Fomalhaut

North again, at the north zone wall (behind rock) is the chest Xing starts with (Ribbon)

You can see the Fomalhaut location, & the Ribbon again, on the "Cerobi's Ribbon and Fomalhaut" video

If you want more proof that this works, check the guide, and how many times Basch hits himself between the 4-hit combo at 5:21 and the 5-hit combo at 7:18. It is 28 times; just as FF12GrandMaster's guide predicts

XING paused so much after the 4 hit combo because he was checking the guide to see what to do next. It works, people. Just got to look it up and use it

This method gets the 'best' treasure on the list. Diamond Armlet gives you a different list, & is required for these particular chests

There is more than one 5 hit combo on the list of "Randomly Generated Numbers". The one XING got was 53 hits into the sequence, after zoning. It can work, as we can see, but FF12GM guarantees his method of 80 hits

Two additional chests can be opened for maximum gain, afterwards, but that requires two different processes.
