  • @Lorenzo1950 I went to Woodlawn...class of "69... Scotty Cathcart was the coolest guy at school!

  • I keep coming back time after time to enjoy this little gem. What a great track. I just love the horns first breaking in at :55. Where have you been all my life....this was a phrase we (well at least the cool guys) used a lot in high school (graduated in 64) to tell a girl that we had been waiting a long time for them to show up. Those horns are just so absolutely cool!!

  • Never heard this version, guess I've

been spoiled by original version by

the late great Arthur Alexander. Thanks, PJ.

  • I knew the drummer. He was in my in my senior high school class in 1967-1968.

The Uptowns were a Baltimore group and also had recorded their version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Saw them perform many times at Milford Mill swim club.

  • I went to high school with the drummer, Scott Cathcart. He started performing around 1965. I heard the band many time in the 60's. I have several Uptown's records.

  • sounds like the arthur alexander version :)

  • It's nice, but gene vincent is soooooooooo nice..............

  • PJ...you're absolutely right on!! It is a totally awesome track!!! Great arrangement and love the subtlety of it. Nothin over the top.. Just a very nice tempo with a good effect from the horns.
