@Lorenzo1950 I went to Woodlawn...class of "69... Scotty Cathcart was the coolest guy at school!

I keep coming back time after time to enjoy this little gem. What a great track. I just love the horns first breaking in at :55. Where have you been all my life....this was a phrase we (well at least the cool guys) used a lot in high school (graduated in 64) to tell a girl that we had been waiting a long time for them to show up. Those horns are just so absolutely cool!!

Never heard this version, guess I've
been spoiled by original version by
the late great Arthur Alexander. Thanks, PJ.

I knew the drummer. He was in my in my senior high school class in 1967-1968.
The Uptowns were a Baltimore group and also had recorded their version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Saw them perform many times at Milford Mill swim club.

I went to high school with the drummer, Scott Cathcart. He started performing around 1965. I heard the band many time in the 60's. I have several Uptown's records.

PJ...you're absolutely right on!! It is a totally awesome track!!! Great arrangement and love the subtlety of it. Nothin over the top.. Just a very nice tempo with a good effect from the horns.
NIce. Cool group name. Thanks very much. By the way, the title says it all . . .
