  • @krish909 are u kidding me?! He was one of the guttsiest runner of all time!! I mean he set an ncaa meet record with 12 stitches in his god damn foot! He might not of won the gold but his style of running was unlike any other. Screw off man cause you dont know shit about pre or distance running

  • epic fail on this comment

  • your comments prove you know nothing about running! My guess is your doing it do to a lack of anything productive going on in your life. GO Pre......

  • Pre Rocked!

  • People liked Prefontaine because of how he ran and why he ran, not because of his wins or his losses. Just because he wasn't the greatest runner to ever live doesn't mean he sucked. Anyone who says Prefontaine sucked -- he had more guts than you do anyway, and he obviously loved running more than you ever will, so get over it.

  • You guys need to lay off Pre. The man died at an age younger than most distance runners peak and was one of the most electrifying college athletes of all time.

  • Hahah, you read this all from his website huh. I give him credit for that, but that doesn't make him the greatest runner. He was reponsible for the running boom in the 70s. But not the greatest, one of um though.

  • He was maturing? Thats why he died DUI. Hmmm

    Too much parties.

  • I do agree with all of you in that their are plenty of awsome distance runners out there. Pre is just one of many. For example Billy Mills & Abebe Bikila.

  • Also, Prudenshu. Pre did a lot to get olympic athletes more rights and opportunities so they could make money while competing. Back in Pre's day one would loose their amateur status if they accepted money for competition. Probably one reason why US distance runners were not as good as their European Counterparts who were subsidized by their governments.
