SEGAROCK is a 2004 double album featuring rock covers of tracks from some of SEGA's most popular games. The covers were realised by Shintaro Ito.

This track is a cover of Zio's battle theme from the Megadrive/Genesis game Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, composed by Izuo Takeuchi and M. Nakagaki.

  • The original version sounds much better. This barely even recognizes the most prominent part of the song: the menacing drum beat.

  • @captainunload Yeah, I think it lacks the "oompf" of the original too. However, and while I agree that the drums are lacking, the prominent part of the original was always the bassline for me. Guess it's a matter of taste.

  • This would've been so much better if this was done industrial rock style ala Nine Inch Nails. As it is, it's a decent arrangement, but holy shit, if they had done it industrial style like how I'd envision it with someone like Devon Townsend doing an insane laugh during the intro before going off with a small speech before the rest of the instruments kicked in, oh FUCK yeah it would be off the hook!

  • If Jim Morrison of The Doors were still alive and had played PS4, it would have inspired him to arrange this song. Downright musical genius. That eerie electric organ sets the mood just right, and while it lacks the power of a solid droning drum beat, it gives off a similarly chilling sound. The guitar is pure rage. Dark Force would be proud. Great work.

You and I might be referring to the same part. Its hard for me to distinguish between drums and bass because of the low-grade digital equipment, but you may be right!
