Design Against the Elements (DAtE) is a global search for solutions to take action for local communities affected by yearly climate challenges. The Philippines is one of the 10 most at risk in the world for losses of life and property because of its large citizenry who are most vulnerable and least able to adapt to the wide scale challenges brought by increasing drought and flooding. This is why green may be an option for the developing world, but is growing as a necessity for those in the developing nations. With limited resources, more sustainable power for light and energy, cheaper sources for water needs, green roofs help lessen the burden of everyday living for the poorest, but during calamity, when 80 percent of the Manila goes under water, and light, water, and food lines are cut for two weeks, these resiliency is a matter of life and death. Its time to step away from the wholesale carbon footprint and carbon trading philosophy and build the need to come out with what to do in a world where carbon will continually be released disproportionately by industrialized countries, and weather will be felt by those who least caused the changes, but most likely to suffer the worst flooding and drought.
you guys are good :)
