This is a 5 min. clip of the historic fire that almost took Placencia Village (Pennisula) on the coast of Belize, C.A.
The fire broke out late in the evening at the Space Monkey and was finally detained in about 1 hour, thanks to some quick work by the residents which included Machete's, Pick Axes, Shovels and other elements to try and get water to douse the fire. Can you imagine your town that is surrounded by Water, being destroyed by Fire???? How ironic!!!
There has been much discussion about the need for a permenant Fire Department, as although rare.....you simply never know, yet even today, the people and the Government still have not resolved what many would be common sense - GET A FIRE DEPARTMENT!!! otherwise the jewel known as Placencia will forever be in peril.
