@AngeLsLuv The "party hats" are temporary and will fall off at their next molt if not before. It helps identify the animals and track them. I think those are just numbers that can be observed from a distance. Sometimes actual radio tracking devices are used to track how deep the former patients are diving and chart their swimming patterns.

For five years I volunteered daily, rehabilitating harbor seals, elephant seals, and Northern fur seals at FreeFlight in Bandon, Oregon. Those years were the high point of my life. This video so moves me because I know the endless hours of dedicated and often heartbreaking work behind those joyous releases. Thank you so much for the difficult and loving work you do to save these ensouled children of the sea and give them back to her whole and free.

I can only imagine the joy The Marine Mammal Center felt watching these beautiful creatures, to whom the dedicated rescuers and volunteers have devoted so much time, energy and generosity of heart, go free. Remarkable and inspiring, this is a true testament to the goodness that we humans can aspire to. And sharing one story of goodness can inspire others - which could lead to even more positive stories. Yes, we CAN, fellow humans. Yes WE can dare to achieve. Much appreciation to the MMC!
