@dinofelis1 They are neither lions nor tigers. Recent DNA tests shew they are rather related to the sabertooth.

i think today's ligers and tigons might give us a clue to their appearences, since as you mentioned, cavies are believed to have had both lion and tiger traits=) Some ligers are even equal to Panthere atrox in size!

I've always wanted to see this cave lion part of the show! Wearing a whitish coat , I think, is logical since they lived in etremely cold middle to late pleistoene era.
There were many other kinds of cave lions, and i'm interested in how each of them actually looked!

it is believed that european cave lion had a tiger like stripes! some people think it was european cave tiger!
all cave lions probably had white coat!
