Hike from Grand Canyon's Bright Angel Trail Down to Indian Garden and Back to the Rim

I had the privilege of being in Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona. Certainly as an outdoor enthusiast, I had to walk more than the Canyon's Rim Trail. My friend JK recommended the Bright Angel Trail as something I could do in less than one day.

My enthusiasm for hiking into the Canyon was cautioned by my fears of:
1. Height. The south rim of the Grand Canyon is nearly 7,000 feet above sea level. I am leery of heights, and the thought of a drop-off of thousands of feet was admittedly something I was not sure I could face.
2. Meeting Mules on the Bright Angel Trail. There are frequent mule trips passing hikers on Bright Angel Trail. Could I squeeze close enough to the mountain side to let a mule train pass me on the Trail?
3. Width of the Bright Angel trail down into the Canyon would not be so narrow as to force me to hug the mountain.

Great video! My son and I have hiked the BA trail three times, most recently in 2009. Nice views and nice trail descriptions. I want to go back!

thanks for the tour steve. I needed a refresher course on the trail. hiked down the kaibab and up the bright angel in 12 hours a few years back. 110 degrees at the river. pure misery! thought I'd never do it again. this weekend I'm going back. I thought down to indian gardens would be a good day hike. but your video reminded me that it doesn't matter how much you train, the canyon will win. it's worth it, and I'm looking forward to it ;)
