Bloodrite of Thorium Brotherhood's second kill of Cho'gall (because apparently I suck at pushing the record button on our first kill). From Aristeides' (Undead Warlock) perspective.

I had been looking forward to finally meeting up with Cho'gall, one of the principal lore figures in the latter half of Cataclysm's new high level zones. From a mechanics standpoint, the fight combines elements from Magmaw, General Vezax, and *insert your favorite mind controller*. As is also typical, we have a new resource to contend with: Corrupted Blood, displayed on a meter I have conveniently hidden for the most part with my cooldown bars. Most crucial elements in the fight are: 1) positioning the Corrupting Adherents in one location so that 2) you can AoE/snare the Blood of the Old Gods effectively while not 3) being out of range for AoE interrupts of Cho'gall's mind control (if not interrupted you channel a spell called "Worshipping" for ~10 seconds).
Once Cho'gall hits 25% you trigger the last phase in which Corrupted Blood begins stacking automatically. Cho'gall summons four tentacles that need to be killed quickly while still keeping pressure on Cho'gall as there is a soft enrage defined by peoples' Corrupted Blood stacks. Once you reach 100 stacks you become unhealable, do crazy damage, and die shortly therafter.

In terms of Warlock notes, I have tried this fight many times as both Affliction and Destruction and find myself preferring the latter. Affliction has potentially better single target damage but at least for this fight its AoE is weaker and it doesn't have the stun utility in Shadowfury that can often prove crucial. I played ok here with the biggest problem being target switching during the last phase and positioning Rain of Fire.

Class composition:
Feral druid (Basha)
Protection Paladin (Kevneiros)
Destruction warlock (Aristeides)
Unholy death knight (Lumenatra)
Fire mage (Legrac)
Assassination rogue (Sorroto)
Survival hunter (Aanarra)
Discipline priest (Reerun)
Holy paladin (Zarrii)
Restoration shaman (Puddlekips)

  • How do you manage to get Forte's cooldown bars front and center like that? As near as i can tell they're linked to the dot tracker in size and position, I really like your setup for destruction, makes Imp soul fire much easier to see.

  • @Mezzentius Ahh mk. Thanks.
