Claudio Gentile with Italy

Claudio Gentile is a name that is usually linked with rough play and the unfair stopping of Maradona and Zico in the 1982 World Cup. But Claudio was much than that. He was anyway never red carded in his whole career. A dedicated player, assuming his responsibilities on the field without failing... A great player for Italy and Juventus.

@pinguino50 Io non sono Napoletano, ma ci mancherebbe altro che Gentile (io son Juventino, quindi figurati se non lo stimo) fosse superiore o al livello di Maradona. Maradona è stato il dio del calcio, credo le discussioni stiano a zero. Ma Gentile in quella partita aveva il compito di limitarlo il più possibile e lo svolse come nessun altro mai... Marcare il più grande calciatore di tutti i tempi non è uno scherzo, marcarlo così è stato mostruoso. E fidati che a Maradona non è andata giù. =)

@sisefa Sono italiano e napoletano quindi credo di essere abbastanza imparziale in questa discussione. Sicuramente Gentile ha fatto il massimo possibile in quella partita per limitare il giocatore più forte di tutti i tempi, usando sia le buone che le cattive.

Ma che a Maradona possa "bruciare che Gentile non gli ha fatto vedere la palla"...non credo proprio che sia possibile. Il calcio è uno sport maschio, ma ogni fallo è sempre un'ammissione di un limite tecnico. Chi fa fallo è inferiore.

Gentile is a fucking perro sucio, cane sporco (dirty son of a bitch). People like that should have not be allowed in a world cup. Due to a lack of talent and technique, and being jelous of talented player like Diego, kicked and punished him during the whole match. What a dirty way of playing this games italy has, they have well deverved to have being kicked out of South Africa. I am confident that they will never ever win any titles for 100 years.
