unlocked Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play store is the way to go. First dibs on Android updates is great. Who knows if the Blaze 4G will ever get Jelly Bean.

Not necessarily. The media contacts (PR agencies representing the manufacturers/carriers) want to see your reach (how many people are impacted by your voice/video/reviews).
My recommendation is to create a Twitter account and get active. Build some followers, comment on trending topics and post links to your video reviews. For the reviews, use products you currently own and use videos you enjoy as your blueprint.

When trying to get a test unit do you have to show them all your reviews and or videos?

I'd start by doing some video reviews of products you already own. That way you build up some credibility for manufacturers and PR companies. If you want to put together a written review I could send you my layout for reviews and you could post it on my site cellfanatic [dot] com.
When a manufacturer sends you a review unit, you are financially responsible for that piece of hardware; you lose it or break it, you buy it. Also, you usually are limited to a 2 or 3 week window to use and return.
