After becoming more familiar with the way Acrylic paints work, I decided once again to do another one. This painting is done on 16x20 canvas
I started out by using a dark blue color and applying that to the top of the canvas and working that down into a light purple color and eventually into a orangish color for a sunset. I also applied that orange color and blue to the bottom of the canvas to later become water.
I then applied dark clouds to the very top of the picture and working my way down I painted in some puffy white clouds. The white clouds naturally took on the purple background color and gave them more of a sunset look,
For the mountains, I first put in a dark color and blended that down into the painting. This sets up for the darker portions of the mountains. I then used a putty knife and some white paint and lightly dragged that over the highlight areas of the mountains to make them look like they were snow covered. I then used a blue and white mix for the shadow part of the mountain and lightly dragged the knife to break the paint as it moves down the canvas. This whole process helps to replicate what mountains look like in the real world. After this, I lightly blended the bottom of the mountains to create mist.
I then used a fan brush and some dark green paint and quickly put in some brush strokes for some trees. I added some larger trees as the came closer to the picture plane.
Music in this video is by Kevin MacLeod. The song is called Skye Cuillin
