I played the Pantheon Steel HALO for the first time anywhere in public on June 5th, 2009. IT was a small gathering at the Lake Helen Coffee and Tea Company, in Lake Helen Florida. This was one of the last songs of the evening. The show was billed as "Ruminations 2 - Improvisations on Panart Hang and Pantheon Steel HALO".

Honestly, I only played the Hang for one song. The HALO has many characteristics that make it quite enjoyable to play. I've already noticed a change in my style of play between the HALO and the Hang. The HALO seems to draw a different energy from me. It is an instrument within itself. Some people find an inherent "magic" within the Hang, and think perhaps that unique quality is otherwise un-acheivable. After playing my HALO, I can't describe the feelings I've had in any other way. A deep, penetrating magic, that reverberates within me both figuratively and literally. You "feel" the music, both within your body, and within your soul. But I suppose magic is within the soul of the beholder. It may not affect others as the Hang. But I know what it does for me. And I can tell you, playing the HALO is a wonderful experience. It will be fun to explore the sonic possibilities with the HALO.

  • Wow, i have lived in Lake Helen for 22 years now and I have no idea where this was shot at lol

  • I'm playing at the Lake Helen Coffee and Tea Company, just across from the Old Elementary School, or the new City Hall. Great place. Very casual. Awesome coffees and sandwiches there. As well as entertainment every Friday evening, 6 to 8 pm.
