This is my old Megatech Merlin slowflyer that I got in the late 1990's. It is all original and still flies great. Many cringe at the name "Megatech", and the first plane I bought was a Megatech Capitol Flyer. To this day, I still can't make it fly, but I bought the Merlin to replace it. The first time I flew it, I looked like I knew what I was doing. Among all my planes, this is still my favorite to fly. It has a 44" wingspan and is so easy.

I got a pen spy camera on eBay for $24.00. It's got 4GB of memory and records pretty decent video for what it is. You unscrew the top half which is the camera, and it plugs right into your USB port on the computer. That part weighs 3/4 of an ounce, so it's great for RC planes. Just tape it on.

This flight was at a polo/soccer field near my house. It has the take off and landing. It was misting at the begining, and by the end it had been full out drizzling for a while. The camera was covered in tape though, so it didn't get wet. The rain didn't phase the Merlin either.

  • nice plane i just saw one like it yesterday at the hobby store, except it had the red baron paint job, it was only about 30 bucks so not too bad

  • Thanks. This one was ready to fly and was close to $200 back when I bought it. It's a good plane, but it was way overpriced ten years ago.

  • I was thinking of getting one and molding a body for it, make it look like one of the old Fockers.

  • That's a cool idea. I made one of these ultra lites from scratch, check out the vid if you haven't seen it on my page.

  • this is also awesome. the park is beautiful. where is this and where did you get the pen camera?

  • Thanks. It's actually a Polo field in Lancaster County PA. I got the pen cam on ebay for $23.

  • this plane is simular to the parkzone slo-v, which i own. it is very easy to fly, and surprizingly tough! i would reccomend it to any beginner.

  • ha spy on neigbors who still have your lawnmwer

  • nice landing and good video overall but the sound was quite anoying 10 outa 10 5star

  • No I didn't train to fly, just taught myself with this very plane. Although I have crashed it, it was so easy that I didn't even crash my very 1st flight. Today I have several planes, but this is still the easiest 3 channel. You're right. In PA there's always wind. Ya have to go in early morn or late evening.
