  • Hi, From my experience I have lost alot babies that didn't get the enzymes from the mothers crop when she feeds them. I have raised newborn finches without the mother ever feeding them but survival rate is low. It is best if they are fed even once. I am not sure if it is in pediasure but I've heard good things about it. I also use probiotics with my birds.

  • He stayed in an incubator.

  • did both of them survive? I am ordering a few macaw eggs.. I am a little nervous.. Lately i have working from home.. so i think i can handle this.. I have ordered 28 eggs. I hope they will be delevered soon. Any advice for me?

  • As long as you have experience with your incubator, there should be no problem hatching them. Beaners mother hatched him out and then abandoned him the first day. I keep them in an incubator until they are feathered and then they go into a brooder (aqaurium with a heating pad) so they can perch, practice flying and be weaned.

  • He's adorable! My first baby lovebird just hatched today and there are two more eggs, one with bumps on it, so I guess I'll have another baby tomorrow.

  • Cool...I hope you don't have to do handfeeding...it's ALOT of hard work and little sleep!! Good luck!

  • Thanks for posting. It looks like hard work feeding him. I hope he will survive even though he looks pretty strong right now. Will you keep us posted on his development? Good luck!

  • because his heads looks like a bean :P lol... your a good person.

  • Is it true that when birds are too small, they need a germ from their mom? Also, Is it true that, that germ can be found in pediasure?

  • where did you place him at that time? he looks comfortable..
