The general rule is North and South are partners and East and West are partners. I suggest you kitbitz on BridgeBaseOnline (free online bridge) and see how the partnership is formed etc. If you feel comfortable, join a table that needs a player and see what happens! It's intimidating initially, but becomes easier after each attempt, go on.....give it a shot! You'll love it :)
