You're eligible as long as you turn 16 the year of the olympics. Otherwise since the exact dates of the olympics are unknown for sometime, but the year is always known you could be training a gymnast who wouldn't make it, so as long as you're born in the right year you don't have to be 16.

@lilidaification She was 15. Her birthdate is October 20, 1992. The Olympics were August 2008.

Wow that was great! Beautiful aerial skills! I loved her full spin in attitude, absolutely great, I've never seen that done on beam before!
