Live Aid was a multi-venue rock music concert held on July 13, 1985 (1985-07-13). The event was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. Billed as the 'global jukebox', the event was held simultaneously in Wembley Stadium, London (attended by 72,000 people) and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia (attended by about 99,000 people).[1] On the same day, concerts inspired by the initiative happened in other countries, such as Australia and Germany. It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time: an estimated 400 million viewers, across 60 countries, watched the live broadcast.

  • Damn I am so jealous of the guy at 5:13... he is so close to the greatest rock star of all time & got to see him up close in his most glorious moment!

  • Greatest performer ever.

  • Yep, even better live! Long live Elvis the king & Freddie the Queen

  • KING

  • I watched the concert live on TV back in 85 & I've also got the DVD which came out many years later.

everyone was enjoying themselves on the day & singing along with the music by the various groups, but it was nothing really special & there didn't seem to be much energy there somehow.

Then at 6,40pm Freddie came running onto stage & the stadium just exploded - wasn't difficult to work out who they'd come to see on the day.

Nothing short of a genious at work.

  • I love him!

  • Freddie's moves would cause whiplash on anyone else (LOL). Never get tired of this Live Aid performance. It's like Freddie encapsulated his endless energy and talent all 20 minutes for us to see the best of him forever and ever. So, if you want the best of Queen and especially Freddie, this is it! Love you Freddie! Queen Forever! Great quality. Thanks!

  • I did not think it was possible. Freddie sounds better live than in the studio. The greatest rock vocalist of all time. Hands down. R.I.P. Freddie.

  • super like...thanks=)
