Troops enter the Iranapai High Security Zone 21/03/2009

Troops of the 58th Division have entered the High Security Zone of the LTTE terrorists at Iranapai.
Troops of the 20th Gajaba Regiment under the 58th Division captured Iranapai following a fierce battle. The Iranapai Junction linking Puthumathalan and Puthukudiyiruppu was captured this morning. The terrorists had used the road to dispatch their supplies from Puthumathalan to Puthukudiyiruppu. The civilians, confined to a limited area, now have the ability to easily cross over. The Security Forces seized the school, hospital and the Catholic Church including several houses which were in the grip of the terrorists. There were bunkers at the Iranapai Church which stocked weapons. The school had been used to attend to injured terrorists. A statue of a tiger leader was erected at the Junction.
