+ Thanks to everyone who Clicked to see my vid + Well, this is something different.
Someone asked if I'd ever made an African Udu Drum or if i'd consider making one,to which I replied..uh,what's an Udu ?
But having seen some pictures on the web I thought I'd give it a go.
Don't know if it'll play as it might be a little thick but here it is.
My attempt at showing how to make an African Udu Drum.
Anyway, thanks to all who clicked,I hope to add some more videos shortly.

You'll have to make one,or should I say "Do do that Udu that you do so well" LOL.

  • I have two questions.

    1) Do you wait until it's leather hard to "decorate" it?

    2) What do you "paint" on the outside to decorate it? Is it just darker slip cause I know it's not glaze.

Thanks so much for posting your videos though, I've watched a bunch of them as art research and I can't wait to throw again.

  • good as alwaysss

  • Very nice but the traditional way to make it I think they roll the clay like snakes. Long and cylinder. Then shape it into udu by putting them on top of each other and working it with a metal or a wooden piece to make it smooth afterwards. But I think working with the wheel takes less time than that. Wish you put the sound of the instrument.

  • wow!!! very outstanding.

  • Taliban news in the background lol.

  • Increíble! Saludos desde Argentina!

  • wow!

  • @youdanxxx Would you recommend Stoneware? I'm getting a pottery wheel but I don't want to be using shitty clay on my first try.
