Shooting During Drug Stop in Refugio, Texas

This video was taped just eight months after Constable Darrell Lunsford was shot and killed while on a traffic stop in Garrison. During the stop, Constable Lunsford found marijuana in the trunk of the suspect's vehicle. The three suspects then jumped Constable Lunsford and shot and killed him with his own service weapon. The entire incident was videotaped by the video camera in Constable Lunsford's patrol car. Because of the video tape, the three suspects were arrested, tried and convicted of his murder.

This situation is very similar to Lunsford's fatal encounter. But the trooper was saved because of the actions he learned from watching Lunsford's dashcam tape. One of the suspects pulled out a gun to kill the trooper but was shot in the process. After another attempt to kill the trooper, he was once again shot repeatedly but after this, he died from his wounds at the scene. The other two suspects escaped that night, but the next day they were found and arrested.

the cops love the fake drug war...so some will get killed..sad..murder rate is going up for cops yet crime is going down.. the cops need to have new training on how to be the friends and not thuggs..cops need help now...

This trooper is good........you know how hard it is to evade fire in a fire fight and still be able to return fire that makes contact!!!! Its obvious he trains thoroughly. Then instead of running straight back to his car, he falls back out of the direction of his headlights to prevent any kind of well aimed fire from the criminal. I would give this guy a raise and hire everyone in his family and give them the trooper uniform and a firearm. We need more troopers like this.

I wonder why they opened the trunk anyway? That was stupid, they should have just driven off. Or shot the cop right when they stepped out of the car. Luckily they were stupid and instead got busted. But then again, this kind of violence is caused by the prohibition in the first place.
