A very quick demo on trimming a porcelain bowl and altering the foot to reflect the shape of the lip.

  • Hi! I has a question about trimming. When you trim the pot how dry is the clay?

I usually trim mine the next day and somethings its really hard and difficult to trim.

So i was wondering how long you wait before going back to trim your pots?

  • @sognoinuanstella The clay should be about like firm cheese. You may need to cover your work if it is drying out too fast. How long to wait is all dependent on the clay and the weather as well as the size of the piece. After you work with it for a while you will get the idea.

  • great job as always. nice bison tool. break any ?

  • @skindawg16 , yes, I have broken one. My wife has broken several and no longer uses them because she tends to drop things. They are great tools if you are careful, at $50 each they are costly to replace. I have been using the tool in the video for at least two years and it is still sharp. Thanks for your comments.

  • great video, would love to see you make the bowl!

  • I want a Bison really bad, but like Mary, I tend to drop my tools often.

Lovely bowl. The details sure add a lot of personality.

  • Good point about the details - Your pots look great.

  • great tip with the footring it definitely lifts the pot and makes it appear lighter somehow.

    regards
