In this video you'll see the traditional art of Javanese Batik being created in Yogyakarta at the factory of 4th generation Batik artist, Hani Winotosastro. Java is well known for being the cradle of batik and bringing batik to a high level art form. The art of batik has existed for over 1,000 years. For generations the Javanese have raised the art to an exceptionally high level. This video can't nearly approach the beauty of what you would actually see in person. But it will give you an idea of traditional batik from Java. Check out our website to sample some of these magnificent creations http://www.1worldsarongs.com Batik is mostly made into sarongs traditionally. Many other uses exist...so come along and take a small journey to the city of Yogyakarta on the exotic Indonesian island of Java.
