Dan Fick is Executive Vice President and Executive Director of the Jockey Club, the breed Registry for Thoroughbred horses in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Dan attended RTIP from 1977 to 1980 and was with the American Quarterhorse Association as director of racing for 20 years. His primary responsibility at The Jockey Club is industry relations, such a racing medication and testing consortium. Dan remembers a lot of great students in his class, including Bob Baffert, Remi Bellocq and Lonny Powell. One of his favorite memories is working at the Campbell Avenue farm. Dan says RTIP is the most notable program for several reasons, such as the annual symposium, student internships, and the ability to realize many different opportunities in the industry. He adds that race track management is primed for a renaissance and new graduates should look forward to a great future.
