@mrfresh1121 There is work everywhere is your not a complete dumbass.. Well wait there are PLENTY of jobs for you. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride America and do not what you want to do but what you have to do. Not sit on your ass on youtube and say there is no work.. get off your ass and go look. And Starbux should not be a long term career choice guy in video..cry me a river....

@theyasin33 Well if you think so then you should move to Europe. America was founded on the idea that if you work hard enough you can achieve your dreams. Was it a lie? Or has the government governed us into a place where there are no longer opportunities to make those dreams come true? Just throwing the ideas out there...I'm undecided on those points but in the mean time I'm working hard to make it.

Starbucks is a revolving door for people looking for a quick job. You don't make a career out of working behind the counter at Starbucks, and if you try to, you have no ambition. You want good benefits and good pay, you have to either do something brilliant, start a company ... or get a career in something. Starbucks hires engineers and growers of course. That's their career, and those are the people who need the union -- not the cash operators.

20hrs a week is not much. Did you have a second job? If not then you should either work more hrs or get a job that you like. 20hrs a week is like 2 1/2 days. Another alternative and probably the best is to unionize.

If you missed your hours by 20 hours, why didn't you tap into your vacation hours that every Starbucks barista earns? If you worked there for a year, at 20 hours a week, there's no reason why you shouldn't have had AT LEAST 40 hours of vacation available to you. By not having utilized this perk of Starbucks, you only discredit your discrediting of Starbucks.

wow you work 20hrs and you can get the insurance!!!!! Here you don't get shit when you're only part time and more and more companies are making sure you don't get 40hrs a week or that you never get to the end of your "training" time (that's usually 3 months, 6 for some companies) so that you will never get on the health care insurance cuz technicaly you're not a regular employee.

@alleybot It could lower your average by 20 hours. When 240 hours are required in a quarter (12 or 13 weeks) it could lower it by more than an hour, eliminating eligibility for benefits.

My wife works at Starbucks and receives full coverage Health Care for our Family , and she only has to work 20 hrs a week! She purposely has her availability for up too 60 hrs a week but she averages only 22-25 hrs. She does this to make it easier for her manager to make weekly schedules that allow everyone to get their needed hours. Sounds like this guy just needs to open up his availability.

@Aboikos - "Legalized slavery"? Are you really that fucked in the head? Are you really that stupid? Are you so fucked in the head that you cannot understand that slaves DO NOT GET PAID? Of course not. It's impossible for you to understand this. When someone is as indoctrinated as you are they're beyond stupid. Their so fucked in the head they cannot tell the difference between freedom and tyranny. You in Denmark will fall to Islam because you're indoctrinated, politically correct morons.

@stewartpp08 And that is the MAIN REASON why our health care is so fucked up, that people have to work 40 hours a week to have coverage is BULLSHIT!!
Well said boomer1949! I worked at Starbucks initially for almost 5 years - its a 4 month catch up! So if you don't make the required hours at the end of the quarter, you are still insured for four months. This story is filled with inaccuracies.
Starbucks is consistently on the list of "100 Best Companies to Work For," because they offer Health Insurance to people who work as little as 20 hrs per week.
And you are allowed to pick up hours at any of the 10,000+ Starbucks in the country.
