These engines are poorly designed hunks of trash. Zetec is the only way to go...most find them to be bulletproof. My '99 Escort ZX2 has almost 200,000 miles on it and uses NO oil to speak of. The tranny is the weakest link on mine...went thru 2 already.

man those SOHC engines are a nightmare. We have one and had to do a complete motor rebuild after a valve came out and into the cylinder. made a huge mess !!

I want to see the actual blown head gasket. Or was the gasket just leaking?

2002 focus when in park brake lights work when u put it in gear the brake lights stay on any suggestions

I have a 2002 Model and it overheated once and blew the head gasket. I'm really tired of dealing with the car.

@luisn612 This just happened to my 1999 escort too. I hate these cvh engines. They're horrible. Mine was fine and then all of a sudden, it just dropped the valve in the number 4 cylinder. It's so bad, the the engine won't start now. There's metal shavings in it too. I've got 134,000 miles on it.
