Over the last two years a fleet of hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicles have been test driven by everyday people. Participants in Project Driveway were given the opportunity to drive the gas-free, emissions-free Chevrolet Equinox wherever they wanted and recently reached the millionth mile mark. Customer comments help the automaker improve the fuel cell experience and in some cases modify the vehicle, bringing it one step closer to reality. Several automakers have said that they will have hydrogen powered vehicles ready for market by 2015
True. This falls into the "there is no free lunch," category. But it really depends on how the hydrogen is created. It is an energy intensive process and if that is powered by coal or nuclear then it's not really a green technology but if it's derived using solar and wind then it is. Many believe this is just PR show that has very little real world viability but it may if and when all of the processes and scalability issues can be resolved. For now, it's PR.
