Trojan Nuclear Power Plant Cooling Tower Implosion

21 May 2006 cooling tower demolition at the decomissioned Trojan Nuclear Power Plant. The tower WAS located on the south bank of the Columbia River about 20 minutes north/west of Portland, Oregon near the town of Ranier. My dad and I got up on a bluff directly overlooking the tower. We were just a little bit over 0.5 miles away from the tower when it blew. If you watch the leaves on the bushes in front of the camera, you can see them shake when the shock wave hits. the black lines through the video are high tension electric wires. We were camped out directly underneeth a series of high voltage power lines that run down to the reactor site. I've got more photos and videos if anyone's interested.

i was just over a half mile away on a bluff looking down on the tower. highway 30 was directly below me. it was quite awesome!

Great, now they can replace the clean nuclear energy with coal and oil power plants that spew CO2 into the air and create smog and raise cancer rates. Brilliant.
