in a way, i think instrumentals are actually a lot better than regular songs with vocals. the vocals tell you directly the emotions and thoughts that are going through their head, using clever metaphores and stuff, but instrumentals let you interperit it any way you want. you can make up your own story in your head, while the absence of lyrics are meaningless. to me, writing instrumentals shows much more skill if you can get it accross to people. go jeff!

Although when you find a song with words that says what you are feeling even better than you can say then you know you have a good song. That being said Goodbye Pork Pie Hat is one of the few instrumentals that has REALLY hit me emotionally. I will always love it whether it's done by Mingus, Beck, or McLaughlin.

Find Her Finer, Disco Boy, Dinah Mo Hum, Don't Eat the Yellow Snow. You are 8 years old, right? Because if not you won't like it. Childish jokes, fill-in sounds to pretentiously seem deeply musical, the ultimate insider cool kid in elementary school "heard of them" group. That and Dr. Demento on late night radio to listen to Firesign Theater and George Carlin, ooh dirty jokes. Those were the days. Who waits until 11:30 pm to hear something on the radio now?

Saw Beck w/Stevie Ray Vaughan less than a year before Vaughan's death. Beck was solid. Couldn't hear a mistake in anything he played. But I guess that's to be expected from a guy who practices 10 hours a day.

The album Shut Up N' Play Yer Guitar, and the album -Guitar- are my favorites... most songs are over six minutes, just non stop guitar solos, a collection of guitar solos... They just shred your face off... the phrasing of his solos are just astounding, I enjoy his style immensely. look up his discography, and pick your time period, He put out 72 studio albums from 1969 to 1991 and they keep releasing more of his shit.
