If you have the Homebrew Channel installed just go here and download the mplayer app, and the libdi installer. Install libdi and run mplayer, with a DVD in the drive. That's it.

You can remove the libdi folder after you install it.

If you're wondering how to install the Homebrew Channel, look around for a guide... like here:

  • BTW to Virtual1Guy, it's not about saving money for most folks. Lot of people don't want 5 boxes sitting by their tv. Playstation 3 for example is great because its a game system, a dvd player, and a blu ray player all in one. That's one box top removing three. I don't think any of us are too far broke or cheap to go out and buy a 20 dollar DVD player at Walmart.

  • @Virtual1Guy So whats up with singling me out with a comment that is irrelevant to my post? I never mentioned I had a "problem" with not being able to watch DVD on my Wii. I gave an adequate answer on Nintendo's decision against adding the playback feature.

But to entertain your response... Adding DVD Playback would in no way add to the sale price as much as you are making it out to be. Many systems these days have DVD playback now starting with the Playstation 2. Please research next time

  • @dhLord64 Probably because it was unnecessary. Almost every family that would have a wii would also have a) a computer that could play DVDs or b) a DVD player or c) a different console that could play DVDs.

  • is there a way to play blue-ray ?

  • is that 4.3 wii ?

  • the wii is 3 entertainment centers in 1, media center, videogame console and internet browser, the wii saves our money xD

  • Tyrian?! Duuuuude, where/how did you get Tyrian? I love that game

  • Jurassic Park!

  • It's not technically illegal because its not a criminal offense. Though it does conflict with Nintendo's Policy and will void any warranty with the system. Also why Nintendo didn't have software to play dvd's is because they didn't want to pay for the license for the regions they needed for the dvd standard. You can google it up and research it.

  • with that channel you can play another console games
